NEW DELHI: Lenovo has launched two new smartphones in the Indian market — Lenovo K8 and the K8 Plus. The smartphones fall in the same ‘K8’ family and run stock Android OS out of the box (Nougat 7.1.1). The company introduced its K8 Note smartphone in India last month.
Lenovo K8 and K8 Plus availability
The Lenovo K8 Plus will be exclusively available on Flipkart from September 7 onwards. The smartphone is priced at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM+32GB variant. There’s also a 4GB RAM+32 inbuilt storage option that will launch around Diwali. The company did not share pricing of the 4GB RAM model. Lenovo K8 is also likely to arrive soon at offline retail stores across the country around Diwali
Lenovo K8 Plus specifications
One of the key highlights of the Lenovo K8 Plus smartphone is the dual-rear camera setup, similar to the one that is there in K8 Note. The cameras help bring an improved ‘Bokeh’ effect. After taking shots, users can change the subject focus in the foreground and background. The smartphone has 13MP+5MP rear cameras along with F/2.0 aperture, Depth Mode, Professional Mode and more. The company says that while the 13MP sensor clicks the image with clarity and colours, the second camera creates a depth map and differentiates the foreground with the background. At the front, there is an 8MP camera with F/2.0 aperture and LED flash.
The Lenovo K8 Plus is made using 500 Series Aluminium and has an overall design on the similar lines as the K8 Note. It comes in Venom Black and Fine Gold colour variants.
Sporting a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display the Lenovo K8 Plus’s screen also has 178 degree viewing angles, 450nits of brightness and oleophobic coating for fewer fingerprint smudges. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass.
The smartphone runs on octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor clocked at 2.5GHz along with 3GB RAM. For those unaware, the K8 Note runs on deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 (MT6797) processor along with 3GB/4GB RAM options. The K8 Plus has three slots for a microSD card and dual SIM cards. It includes 32GB inbuilt storage and support for USB OTG connectivity.
Lenovo K8 Plus has a single speaker at the bottom powered by Dolby Atmos. The ‘Music Key’ button that was introduced in Lenovo K8 Note smartphone too is there. By default it lets users control the music playback. The users can also customise it to launch other features and apps. Backing the K8 Plus is a 4000mAH battery. The company claims that its new smartphone can offer up to 20 hours of video playback and up to 100 hours of music playback.
Lenovo K8 specifications
The Lenovo K8 is a less-powerful device than the K8 Plus. Running pure Android UI, the smartphone will sport a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display and will be powered by the MediaTek Helio P20 processor. Unlike the K8 Note and the K8 Plus, the K8 will have a single 13MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. The same 4000mAh battery will be backing the device. Lenovo says the K8 can run for up to 48 hours (2 days) on a single charge on regular usage. Sporting a metal build, the Lenovo K8 will also include Dolby Atmos surround sound speakers.
