Whether you agree or not, the iPhone X’s best features are probably the OLED screen and Face ID. The iPhone X has an all screen design which led to the home button being removed and the introduction of a new security system.
The iPhone X has an all-screen design and the array of sensors to help in 3D facial recognition. Apple removed the home button in favour of the new security system and it may become a staple for every future iPhone yet to come. Face ID is a much safer and better security system than Touch ID.
A report. earlier this week, suggested that Apple may be launching three iPhones next year where two models will have OLED panels and one will feature the traditional LCD display. All three iPhones are expected to have the iPhone X design and Face ID on board to compliment the design. The news comes from KGI securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo who has been very accurate in predicting Apple’s newest products in the recent past.
The company, Finisar, that made it possible for Face ID to function is already on the path to expand and it can only point towards the claim made by Kuo. The company acquired a new 700,000 square foot facility in Texas which will allow them to scale up production. The new plant will start production in the second half of next year, which should be in time for next year’s iPhone launch.
The VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) arrays are expected to start shipping by January and this expansion is indicative of the fact that Apple required more supply. It can be assumed that Apple’s need for more arrays shows that more iPhones will now be utilizing the Face ID security system.
